first performed at "la criée" in Rennes, 2000, regularly revived since.
The creation of a candyfloss dress worn by a woman who then wanders among the audience, letting herself be tasted.
The whirring of a small, steady machine. You can hear whispers, a burst of laughter, the excitement builds. There’s the smell of sugar, the heat of the preparations.
We wait.
Suddenly there is silence in the room, the machine has stopped. She appears, radiant in her whiteness. Her dense dress is like a cloud you could slip into and melt into. She moves slowly through the crowd, her gaze lost in the horizon, then stops.
Onlookers stare in amazement.
A child touches the dress, sticks his fingers in it and sucks. A little girl takes a piece in her hands and puts it to her mouth. A man holds out a stick and twists it awkwardly. The fairy doesn’t move. It’s my turn to try it: it melts in your mouth, it’s soft and sweet.
The bride is devoured.
