fold est un film qui présente de manière narrative une recherche que je suis en train de mener sur la notion de voix virtuelle, c’est à dire une voix que l’on ne peut entendre, dont on ne peut faire l’expérience, en d’autres termes qui n’est pas actuelle. Cette voix serait la voix de ceux qui nous ont précédés, de ceux que nous aurions pu être, de ceux qui viendront après nous. Le film présente donc les premiers pas de cette enquête, celle des enjeux de cette voix spéculative, aussi bien dans le champs de la mémoire et de l’histoire de l’humain que dans l’art. Le film en lui même se construit en trois chapitres autour de l’interaction entre un objet, une sculpture qui est la repro- duction en impression 3d d’un larynx modifié, augmentée (une troisième cordes vocales y a été rajouté) et un personnage. Les chapitres sont chacun basé sur un registre narratif différent, com- pilant les dimensions scientifiques, intimes et ontologiques que soulève le mythe de cette voix qui ne se fera jamais entendre.
« As long as the voice is not actualized in a form that makes it audible and that transforms it into an explicit declaration, it remains a distant and vibrating virtuality, floating between each of us as a breath that belongs to nobody, as the ghostly voice of those who preceded us, those we could have been and those who will come after us. The virtual voice would be a non actualized voice, a speculative voice. In opposition to the idea of the actualization of the voice – a voice, even a synthetic one, actualized as a thought – we have to think of a virtual voice, one that would not actualize anything, not even itself. In other words, a voice of silence. A voice of spectre. A voice that cannot be heard or listened to, that cannot be experienced nor told. A voice refusing any form of control and whose impossible expression would defeat any mechanism of colonization of memory or identity. This voice would not ever be produced as it refuses any actualization, any implementation. A voice that cannot be spoken is a voice that needs to be represented by its contour, by its power to become.This voice would be the voice of the dead and the unborn, of the muted and the absent. This would be the voice of the non human and the non living. »
